Carols and Swedish Lucia songs by candlelight in York Minster:
Monday 16 December 2024
Join us on Monday 16 December in York Minster for our Sankta Lucia candlelit service with carols and traditional songs in Swedish. The service begins at 7:00 pm when the lights were dimmed in the Minster, and a candle is lit.
Organized by the York Anglo-Scandinavian Society (YASS) with the support of York Minster, and with additional sponsorship, the Sankta Lucia candlelit procession and Swedish songs will be sung in York Minster on 16 December.
Donations at the end of the service are shared between York Minster and YASS for the CoScan Trust Fund, which awards cash grants to young British people with well-motivated grounds for travelling to the Nordic countries.
In December 2023, the service was livestreamed via York Minster’s YouTube channel. We are grateful to the Dean and Chapter of York for making it possible for everyone to enjoy being with us in York Minster to see and hear the London Nordic Choir in December 2023 and share our celebration of the Sankta Lucia.
